Track Generation & Dynamics
I built this procedural roller coaster first in Unity, then rebuilt it from scratch in Unreal Engine 4 with C++. The UE4 version, shown in the video, is the more advanced one. Cart movement is physics-based rather than animation-driven:
- Dynamic Cart Physics: The cart’s speed comes from its height on the track through energy conservation, kept between a minimum and maximum speed, with braking at the end of the ride.
- Procedural Mesh Construction: Generates the rails along editable spline paths, with optional guard rails and per-point track width, thickness, and roll.
- VR Ready: The ride camera supports VR headsets.
